Sentry
Application error and performance monitoring: groups errors, alerts the team and keeps the context. Free plan for a single developer.
A small service that receives your application's errors, groups them by type and emails you is simple to build. Sentry adds reading browser error traces from source files, performance monitoring and session replays. For a single project, replaceable; for several applications and teams, keep the tool.
What you lose
- Reconstructing browser errors from the source code
- Performance monitoring
- Session replays

The prompt to build it yourself
Build me a small error collector for my web applications, without claiming to replace Sentry. Stack: Node, TypeScript, SQLite, a JavaScript script to include in my applications. To do: - A script that captures unhandled errors (browser and server) and sends them to my collector with the page, browser and time. - Grouping of identical errors by fingerprint, occurrence counter, first and last seen. - Interface listing the errors, with status (new, seen, resolved) and trace. - Email alert for a new error (configurable SMTP), limited to avoid a flood. - No personal data collected by default (IP addresses not kept); configurable retention period. - Tests on grouping; README with the limits. Out of scope: performance monitoring, session replays, source maps.
