Methodology
casevibecode analyzes business software to determine whether it can be replaced by a custom-built tool (vibe coding), or not.
Who publishes casevibecode?
The website is published by North Studio, the sole proprietorship of François-Laurent Lhabitant (full details in the legal notice). North Studio also builds websites, videos and automations for hospitality professionals (restaurants and hotels): this is a commercial activity, flagged on software pages by the “A word from North Studio” box. It does not influence the verdicts, and no software vendor pays us.
Where does the data come from?
For hospitality software (restaurants/hotels), initial verdicts come from cross-referenced AI research (GPT, Mistral, Gemini in late September 2026), supplemented by analysis of French legal requirements (notably mandatory NF525 or LNE certification for cash register systems, art. 286 of CGI). For everyday SaaS tools, initial entries, alternatives, and prompts are adapted, translated, and built upon from the open source initiative canivibecodeit.com (MIT license).
What do the three verdicts mean?
Replaceable
The tool can be effectively replaced by a fast custom build (vibe coding). Workflows are standard, without regulatory roadblocks or proprietary hardware.
Partially replaceable
A custom tool can cover basic needs (e.g. solo usage, simple logbook), but cannot match advanced capabilities, ecosystem integrations, or team requirements.
Not really
A custom build is not recommended: mandatory legal certification (for example NF525 or LNE for a cash register, with fines of up to €7,500 per non-compliant system), severe operational risk (real-time inventory, bank reconciliation, hotel overbooking), or complex hardware dependencies.
What the verdicts are not
A verdict is an editorial opinion on how feasible it is to replace a tool with a custom-built one, not a technical audit nor legal or tax advice. It guarantees no savings: development time, hosting and maintenance are not counted. For a legal obligation (cash-register certification, for example), check with the vendor or a professional.
Community takeover
Every software page lets anyone vote without an account, using a salted IP hash to restrict to one vote per person. Starting at 20 votes on a page, community votes automatically take over and replace the initial casevibecode verdict. Below that, the displayed verdict stays casevibecode’s, even if a few votes have been cast.
You are a software publisher: how to submit a correction?
We review every submission. If you publish a listed tool and notice an inaccuracy (added feature, pricing update, certification obtained), report it via the dedicated link on your page. Every report is reviewed with verifiable sources before any change goes live.
Publisher links and independence
Links to software vendors point directly to their official domains. No link is affiliated or sponsored. If a publisher chooses to mention casevibecode, it provides no special privilege regarding the objectivity of its verdict.
