Sellsy
French sales management platform (TeamSystem group): CRM, quotes, invoicing, electronic signature and pre-accounting, with electronic invoicing through an approved platform according to the vendor.
The CRM, quotes and PDF invoices can be rebuilt without difficulty, and are enough for many freelancers. What you lose: the transmission of invoices through an approved platform, which the electronic invoicing reform will eventually require, and the continuous updating of the rules. If you keep Sellsy for invoicing and build the CRM around it, the compromise is reasonable.
What you lose
- The approved electronic invoicing platform
- Electronic signature of quotes
- Pre-accounting and exports for the accountant
- Regulatory updates
Existing alternatives to Sellsy
- DolibarrOpen source
Free management suite: customers, quotes, invoices, calendar and payment tracking, developed in France.
- ERPNextOpen source
Free ERP combining CRM, quotes, invoicing and project tracking; heavier to set up.
The prompt to build it yourself
Build me a small sales management tool for a freelancer or very small business, without claiming to replace Sellsy or do official accounting. Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, SQLite. Data at my place, secrets in .env, no telemetry. To do: - Customers and prospects: record, history of exchanges, sales follow-up stage (new, quote sent, won, lost). - Quote then invoice from the quote, as PDF: continuous numbering with no gaps, mandatory mentions, VAT per line, deposit and balance. - Invoices are never deleted or edited: a mistake is corrected with a credit note. - Payment tracking and reminder by email (configurable SMTP). - Signing of the quote by the customer: unique link, tick box, date and timestamp kept. - CSV export of customers and invoices for my accountant; simple backup. - Tests on numbering and totals; README with the limits. Out of scope: accounting, bank reconciliation, VAT returns, and the transmission of invoices through an approved platform that electronic invoicing reform will eventually require (timetable to be checked). Never state that the documents comply with that reform.
