Onrush
Food cost software for restaurateurs: price list, recipe cards and margins.
Onrush focuses on food cost: price list, recipe cards and margins. Margin calculation is accessible in-house. The price list, meaning supplier prices kept up to date, is what cannot be reproduced without constant effort. If you have few suppliers, enter the prices yourself.
What you lose
- The price list kept up to date by the vendor or by supplier import.
- Automatic alerts when a price changes.
- The vendor's support.
Existing alternatives to Onrush
- COS KitchenFree
Free food-cost calculation, import of menus and delivery notes, alerts when ingredient prices rise.
- YokitupFree
Permanent free plan: recipe cards, cost per ingredient, margin rate, allergens and stock valuation.
The prompt to build it yourself
Build me a food-cost tool with price list and recipe cards, for my venue, to replace a subscription. Stack: web app (Next.js or Node/Express) with SQLite, hosted on my small server, usable on phone and computer. No mandatory paid service, no telemetry. Core of the tool: - Price list: products' prices per supplier with the date of the last update. - Recipe cards calculated from the price list, with margin per dish. - Simulation: if a product's price rises by X%, which recipes fall below the target margin? Requirements: - Units and conversions (kg, g, L, cl, piece); purchase price excl. VAT per product and per supplier, with a history of changes. - Recipe card per dish: ingredients, weights, losses and yield, cost per portion, selling price incl. VAT, margin in euros and as a percentage. - VAT configurable per product (for example 10% for catering, 20% for alcohol): to be validated by my accountant, hard-code nothing. - Allergens: the 14 mandatory allergens ticked per ingredient, and automatically carried onto each recipe card (decree 2015-447). - CSV import and export (products, suppliers, recipes) so I am not locked in. Out of scope: stock, orders and accounting. README: installation, database backup, and a reminder that the VAT rates and allergen declarations are to be validated with my accountant and my suppliers.
