Menu-Touch
Digital menu accessible by QR code with built-in order taking on tablet.
The basic QR menu is trivial; as soon as you add tablet order taking and sending to the kitchen, reliability becomes the hard subject again.
What you lose
- Reliable sending of orders to the kitchen during service.
- Updates and support.
- Integration with your till, depending on the plan.

The prompt to build it yourself
Build me a digital menu with order taking on tablet, for my venue, to replace a subscription. Stack: web app (Next.js or Node/Express) with SQLite, hosted on my small server, usable on phone and computer. No mandatory paid service, no telemetry. Core of the tool: - Menu viewable by QR code. - Order taking by the server on a tablet, with sending to the kitchen or bar on a screen or ticket printer. - Order statuses: sent, in preparation, served. Requirements: - Menu editable online: categories, dishes, photos, prices incl. VAT and service, dish of the day, instant publishing. - Allergens: the 14 allergens ticked per dish, visible to the customer (decree 2015-447); origin of meats and the “homemade” label only if it is true. - Printable QR code per table or for the whole venue. - Mobile first, very fast, no customer account, works on a poor connection. - Reliability: local queue if the connection drops, no lost slip, a visible warning if sending fails. Out of scope: taking payment and the certified till: the order is a preparation slip, the bill is paid in my till. README: installation and a reminder that the QR code does not replace the display of prices visible from outside (order of 27 March 1987); every paid order must be recorded in my certified till.
