Fourth
Management suite for hospitality, American vendor: scheduling, time clock and labour compliance (HotSchedules), payroll and HR (Fourth Payroll), inventory and purchasing with recipes and menu engineering, production, cash management, AI forecasts (Fourth iQ), and the Adaco, MacromatiX and Red Book Solutions tools. Announced customers: Taco Bell, Dunkin', KFC, Pizza Hut; «120,000 locations», a vendor figure. No public price; a free version of HotSchedules and a free year of payroll are highlighted. American site in English; regional sites for the United Kingdom and Australia, France is not mentioned.
The suite bundles pieces of different natures. Scheduling and inventory can be reproduced (see Sling and Mealie). Payroll cannot: it follows each country's legal rules, which change regularly. Activity forecasts rely on data from a very large number of venues that you do not have. For a chain it is a coherent whole; for a single restaurant you take the useful piece (scheduling, stock) separately.
What you lose
- Payroll and the country's legal rules.
- Activity forecasts based on data from many sites.
- The integrations between scheduling, stock and purchasing already built.
- Support and training for groups.
Existing alternatives to Fourth
No free or open-source alternative currently meets our checks (active project under a free licence, free plan read on the vendor’s own site). Rather than invent one, the list stays empty.
