For a small team that handles its leave in a spreadsheet, a home-made tool is enough; for payroll, keep a vendor.

The prompt to build it yourself
Build me a leave, time-tracking and expense-claim tool for a small business, without claiming to replace Eurécia or do payroll. Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, SQLite. Data at my place, secrets in .env, no telemetry. To do: - Employees with a role (employee, manager, HR) and sign-in by password or magic link. - Leave and absence requests with approval, team calendar, balances per type of leave that I configure. - Working-time entry per day or per week, monthly summary. - Expense claims: amount, photo of the receipt, approval status. - CSV export of hours and absences for my accountant. - Employee data: role-based access, change log, deletion on request. - Tests on leave balances; README with the limits. Out of scope: payroll calculation, DSN, recruitment. Never state that the counts comply with the law.
